Development of separation membranes that can control ion permselectivity
by electrochemical method
Conductive DLC through-hole membranes having highly ordered nanopore arrays
can be fabricated when the surface of nano porous alumina
is coated with conductive DLC membrane. By applying positive potentials
on this conductive membrane, inside pore is filled with
electrical double layer composed of negative ions, permeability of positive ions is accelerated, and that of negative ions is suppressed.
Conversely, when negative potentials are applied on it, ion permeability
is inverted.
To control ion permeability allows permeation of target ions and
those having same sign selectively, from a sample that many kinds of ions
are coexisted.
